Detours and roadworks 2026

Nelson City and Tasman District Councils have multiple projects across the region. Some of these resurfacing projects may have minor impacts on bus stops and routes and require a bus detour, or bus stop closure. Alongside these projects, there are often events that also require a detour. 

R1 - Bayleys Te Ramaroa detour - 4:30pm detour

Selwyn Place will be closed to ordinary traffic due to the Bayleys Te Ramaroa light festival. This detour will be in place from 4:30PM FRIDAY 3 JULY - TUESDAY 7 JULY. R1 will not travel down Selywn Place or Collingwood St which will temporarily close the following bus stops: 

- Collingwood St at Dentist 
- Collingwood St at Fresh Choice
- Collingwood St at Prices Pharmacy 
- Collingwood St at 132 Health 
- Selwyn Pl opposite Cathedral 
- Selwyn Pl opposite McDonalds
- Selwyn Pl at McDonalds

R3 - Franklyn Street reseal

Due to maintenance works on Franklyn Street, R3 will be detoured. R3 will travel as far as Totara Street. The following bus stops will be temporarily closed: 
- Vanguard St near Totara St
- Vanguard St opposite Victory Church
- Motueka St near Tipahi St
- Nelson Hospital Interchange Northbound (only closed to R3)
- Franklyn St near Kawai St
